Background of the Study
Eclampsia is a life-threatening pregnancy complication characterized by seizures and high blood pressure, which can lead to maternal and fetal death if not properly managed. It is a leading cause of maternal mortality in Nigeria, including Bauchi State. The timely diagnosis and management of eclampsia are critical to improving maternal health outcomes. Nurses, particularly those working in maternal and child health settings, play a crucial role in identifying the signs of eclampsia and administering appropriate care.
Despite the critical role nurses play, there have been reports of insufficient awareness and lack of effective management protocols for eclampsia in some areas. In Bauchi State, where maternal mortality rates remain high, the role of nurses in eclampsia management is a key factor in improving outcomes. This study will explore how nurses' awareness of eclampsia management affects maternal health and investigate whether enhancing nurses' knowledge can lead to better maternal outcomes.
Statement of the Problem
Eclampsia continues to be a significant contributor to maternal mortality in Bauchi State, largely due to delayed diagnosis and inadequate management. Nurses' knowledge and awareness of eclampsia management are essential for timely intervention, yet gaps in knowledge persist in the region. This study seeks to assess the impact of nurses' awareness and knowledge of eclampsia management on maternal health outcomes in Bauchi State.
Objectives of the Study
1. To assess the level of nurses’ awareness and knowledge of eclampsia management in Bauchi State.
2. To examine the impact of nurses' awareness of eclampsia management on maternal health outcomes in Bauchi State.
3. To identify the barriers that hinder nurses’ effective management of eclampsia in Bauchi State.

3. Nurses' awareness of eclampsia management is positively correlated with a decrease in maternal mortality rates in Bauchi State.
